My name is Aniruddh Ravipati (or call me ANI). I'm an interaction designer from the Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design. This was preceded by an eclectic background - I was a Researcher at IIIT Hyderabad in Cognitive Sciences, I worked at Samsung developing on-site 5G radio network modules.With a highly multi-disciplinary background, I aim to continue on that path of learning and exploration.
I started my career in 2017 working at Samsung R&D Institute Bangalore where I started out as a Senior Engineer and worked my way up to Lead Engineer. During that time, I took on ownership of multiple 5G radio modules that were deployed across North America, Korea, and Japan. As Lead Engineer, I also oversaw a small team of 3 where I took complete management of development, testing and deployment of software at scale.
During my time at Samsung, I started to develop an interest in design while talking to my colleagues in Smartphone design teams. What fascinated me most was the level of involvement with the user and what it meant for the design of the artifact. This aspect of design appealed to me much more than deploying rigid protocols of system software. It also meant that creativity was required at every step of the way and that is something that I’d not found yet.
Therefore, I decided to join CIID, where it was an intense year in two aspects of interaction design - research & prototyping. With prototyping, we were thrown into multiple domains - coding, electronics, 3D modeling & printing. With research, we were tasked with various challenges, both in-house and in participating with orgs such as Google, Meta & Enel. The sheer variety of users and problem domains was an enriching experience and it is a great source of motivation for me in the process.
As a result of my history and mindset, I found that I’ve been able to act as a play-maker in a team - connecting insights from multiple domains and sparking ideas that come when two worlds merge.
